Kansas? Why? That place fukkING SUCKS.

You guys need to stop looking at these places as potential tourist attractions and focus on the business side of things.

Kansas and Missouri and in the middle of the country. So it's easy to expand from there, geographically. Also, neither have restrictive regulations like California, which will most likely never get Google Fiber due to things like the Environmental Quality Act.

Whether or not Cali is "cooler" on some kinda popularity scale has nothing to do with anything.

This may seem like a foolish question but why hasn't hyper-fi wireless internet been researched and tapped further?

In theory this is simply cellular or sattilite service, but isn't that easier to expand and upgrade than FIOS?

what is 5g looking like?

ATT and Comcast will lobby hard to prevent this. They did the same shyt when I lived in Chattanooga to stop the power company from launching its fiber tv/internet service. Even had it stopped at one point until the courts overturned it.

Google will find a way

Yup. The Mayor of Chicago has already been throwing hints that he wants Google Fiber in the city.

Chicago could be aiming for Google?s fiber attention - Chicago Business Journal

Emanuel was pushing for the installation of broadband and Wi-Fi infrastructure in Chicago, since the city already is tearing apart its streets to upgrade its water system, technology blog site Gigaom reports.

“If it sounds like Chicago is angling to be the next candidate for Google Fiber, then you’re probably not too far off base,” blogger Kevin Fitchard writes, though the mayor didn’t mention “Google Fiber” specifically during his announcement this week.

Only a matter of time
