aren't all aborigines 'black'? I find the connection between random indigenous people and 'africans' or 'african americans' really a stretch

blackness has never been universally defined or applied

Personally, I only consider people who were called "Negro" by the Spaniards and Portuguese as truly Black. That includes West Africans, Central Africans, Southern Africans, African-Americans, Haitians, Jamaicans, Afro-Brazilians, etc. etc.

But that's my IMO

TBH, I don't even like the word Black because of its ambiguous nature..and only use it in a North-American socio-political and economic context.

Is there a specific reason for this? Historically, the spaniards and portuguese havent been best of friends with black africans(unless you're talking about african rule of spain from 700-1300). Did you leave out east africans purposely too? (ethiopia/eritrea, somalia, kenya).

We gotta start defining what we are instead of letting outsiders do the work. It may only be a title, but before you know it theyre also defining our history, and then our roles within society:mjpls:

Yeah basically 'black' means the african diaspora in the western hemisphere over the last few hundred years. it's a political category that people used to unify all these people

You must be young, and don't get the bigger picture to information like this. It's not about African-Americans connecting to Aborigines, it's about knocking the theory of white being supreme, and being the best out of all people, down. They showed pictures of these people using BOATS to cross the ocean which is powerful when you consider the fact that we are taught ancient man or in other words the black man was to ignorant to do this. The whole foundation of racism is that black is ignorant, and the closer you are to white the better you are. This white supremest belief is the foundation of racism as we know it in the world today. The fact that it can go over your head is a strong statement to how subtle, yet powerful it is. They know what stuff like this means, which is why they are quick to debunk it. Not all whites, but the ones who need the lie to continue in order to maintain power.

Wake up.

They use it to maintain power through separation. They probably had no idea information like this would come out. I'm just using their definitions against them. In this world there is black & white. If you go to an aborigine, and tell him he isn't black he will laugh at you. I seen them consider themselves black, and that is because of white racism. Black is not just people in the western hemisphere. They even had a black panther party of australia. Here's an article to read about it:

You forgot Uganda, Sudan, and Djibouti are also in East Africa.

But, I honestly meant to include East Africa and I just stepped out the house and that was on my mind that I forgot.
