First American Hijabi Anchorwoman?

No troll, but what if i wanted to wear my du-rag or a kufi on air ( at both of those)? Or a yardie got a job as an anchor with a head full of dreads? Both are seen as unprofessional. Why should this be any different? Just playing devil's advocate here.

This is more like a sikh dude wearing a turban. It's formal wear, not at all comparable to a doo rag. That said I would support someone wearing clean/neat dreads too

I personally think it's unprofessional for her to wear a hijab. I personally think her religion and other religions are a waste of human potential. I personally think it's a sign of oppression by male-dominated culture and religion.

But what I think personally has no bearing on the law. She has the right to believe in her religion. She has the protection of the law to ensure she is not be discriminated against because of her religion, gender, race, etc...

Those laws are more important than my personal beliefs.

why would she be a token? Because she is exercising a NON mandatory aspect of her religion? That's silly to assume that she would be token without knowing anything about her or how she acts. Its a very large Arab population where i live and like any other population you got the c00ns of the group, the exemplars, the middle ground...but to say she's campaigning to be token is absurd.

I hope Soledad lets her intern and she gets a gig...doing regular news. I want to see her report on American Politics with the objectivity of the nations finest journalists.

Black folks are JUST now getting to a point where the representation, numbers wise, is close to satisfactory. but latinos, arabs, and other people of color who aren't east asian, have very little images out there.
