This 19 year old Libyan girl is doing spoken word all over the DC, Maryland, and Virginia and is promoting herself endlessly to achieve this feat. :leon:

Now Soledad O'Brian at CNN wants to have her shadow her. Amazing what social media has been able to achieve :wow:

:salute:

I interned on Capitol Hill one summer and went up to him with the :troll: face as he walked out of a hearing. Talking about "I'm a young Somali Muslim male working here near your office" :myman:

She's very cute, she'll get a job somewhere. Maybe I could groom her under my wing. Professionally of course. I am a media consultant after all. :scheme:

Personal feelings aside regarding her dress code and religion, if she is qualified and can do the job well, I don't see why anyone should hold anything against her.

Aren't you the one that voted for and wants Obama in office for the sole reason that he is a black man? Didn't you say you disagree with Obama on a lot of issues, but you wanted someone black in that position to inspire others?

that was simply my personal opinion, but i would never suggest that any black person make a direct public appeal based on race for a job or office, thats retarded, you should always put your resume first and last

if obama had done something like that i would have to revoke my endorsement, not because i would personally have a problem with it, but because i would deem him too unsophisticated to lead

Maybe she recognizes that she will be tokenised regardless, so she is trying to exercise whatever agency she think she has.

Cute girl, I hope things work out.

she should do whatever she wants, but i would definitely not hire her nor get behind her for the aforementioned reason, it shows a lack of sophistication and its point blank corny, soledad is one of the corniest reporters so i can see why she gets behind something like that

Are we talking about the same media industry? Ive seen all sorts of dumb but cute birds becoming weathergirls or hosts. Local newscasters, tv hosts, and sportscasters all display a certain level of corniness. This girl is also 19, many people don't even narrow down their college major by then. Obviously, she should be hired based on skill, but in an industry so conscious of appearance, her attire and identity will hardly be glossed over. She can decide to use it for her, cause plenty of places will try to use it against her.

No troll, but what if i wanted to wear my du-rag or a kufi on air (:scusthov: at both of those)? Or a yardie got a job as an anchor with a head full of dreads? Both are seen as unprofessional. Why should this be any different? Just playing devil's advocate here.

And the irony here is crazy. She wants to not be seen....but wants to be a news anchor. :russ:

well again, she should do whatever she wants, i wasnt saying she wouldnt face discrimination, what i said is that what she is doing shows a lack of sophistication and its corny

even those so called dumb girls and people that sleep their way to their top have a certain amount of sophistication, believe it or not
