I feel like I've seen this thread from you a million times before. If any player today had lived back then who's to say they would have had the athleticism they have now? They helped the game grow and players learn more things as years went on. You keep discrediting older players because the game wasn't advanced yet, as if anybody on this forum would of been doing windmills and 360s if we were born and raised in that era:mjlol:

So you telling me that if the best team in Hawaii don't play the best team in Texas, you really have no way of telling which team better?

Better yet, why don't the NCAA Division I champs play the Division III champs at the end of each year? Why don't the men's champs play the women's champs? Can't objectively tell which one better unless they do, right?

:comeon:

LOOK AT THE PICTURES. :heh:

In 1962, 6'10" means, "The one skinny-ass unathletic as hell White guy on the team who we just plant under the basket because he tall." The available pool of tall athletes were tiny, so a lot of those guys were basically non-athletes. Couldn't jump, shoot, time blocks, move laterally, didn't have the muscle to hold position or nothing.

Nowadays if you 6'10" in the NBA, you had to be better than hundreds of other 6'10" guys who were athletes themselves, but didn't make it for one reason or another. And you probably at least a muscular 240lbs or more, because 6'10" 210lb non-athletes don't even think about trying out no more.

You ain't looking at me with a straight face and saying that any of them skinny white guys doing anything today.

On top of that, back then the ONLY guys over 6'9" were centers. Now you got 6'10" threes and fours all over the league. When Wilt faced a double-team, he wasn't getting doubled by a Duncan or a Durant, he was doubled by a guy who was 6'7" tops and probably White.

Josh Jackson just got drafted as a 6'8" guard. He would have been the 2nd-tallest player on the Celtics roster some of Russell's years.

I don't think youre getting it. There's enough similarities between D1 and D3 teams (many of those athletes compete with and against each other in AAU and high school), and enough commonalities between various high school leagues to make an objective comparison.

There's just not for teams that have played decades apart. It's sloppy and pointless.

the ether
So youre saying over time people including athletes have gotten bigger :ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

And Blacker? :francis:

Ya'all trying to act like it just modern science or some shyt. It ain't. Basketball wasn't even popular back then, the best talent was still in baseball and boxing and football. Some great players were washed-up pitchers. AND the number of Black players allowed to play was severely limited. AND there was no foreign talent in the league yet.

Imagine you remove every foreign baller from the NBA. Then take away 80% the Black ballers so you only have 1-2 per team. Then eliminate half the remaining White talent and have them pitch ir play QB or volleyball or something instead.

You don't think that leftovers like, say, Whiteside or Hayward or Drummond don't absolutely dominate that world?

You can't just eliminate 90% of the talent pool and pretend it the same level of competition.

They wont know what hits them when I actually dribble up the court without looking at the ball

Or dribble with your left hand.
