they could have had a chance at BOTH. normal onside kicks, even when they fail, don't go 3 yards. they could have kept them out of field goal range with a proper kick. if that kick goes the full 10 yards, and the steelers don't recover ans still get the 3 and out, theres a good chance the Jags don't attempt a 50+ yard field goal.

onside kick call wasn't a problem, it was the terrible execution that ended the game. onside kick gave them 2 chances to get the ball back.(if they either recover it or it goes the normal distance and they get the stop).

anyway, steelers gotta fix their defense asap. secondary is trash, and defensive coordinator is too.

Losing our best defensive player to a spinal injury certainly made our defense worse. Shazier may have overplayed the run on occasion, but he was a huge disruptor and game changer defensively. His speed allowed him to recover on lots of plays that would have otherwise been explosive. He would have been the one who tracked down Yeldon on those big 3rd down plays.

I think Haley has to be gone though
