They're not that good but it's all about matchups.

We couldn't match up against the Nets last season, especially Joe Johnson. We match up horribly vs the Heat. Whiteside will have fun playing volleyball.
The nets had basically the same record as us last season and tanked their last few games to face us, most ppl thought they were the better team. They finished above .500.

I agree Hassan would give us trouble, but he struggles with fouls and if he's not in the game they have arguably the worst frontcourt in the NBA. We're much deeper and with how bad they've been and with losing Bosh I would say we beat them in 6 at most.

could have been fixed by trading fields/hansborough/hayes expiring

acquiring an affalo, a jeff green, a mozgov etc.

In hindsight, the Afflalo and Green trade would've worked if we offered a future 1st for either of them (as that was the cost for both of them). But I don't think they want to part with any draft picks because the team simply doesn't have a lot of assets, plus they would've been trading a first for two guys who would've been FAs in the off-season. To be honest, the Raps aren't that talented - this team has already overachieved. Gotta keep the picks because there is a definitely a decline coming. Colangelo already fukked up royally in the draft during his tenure and gave up assets that ended up being Roy Hibbert and Goran Dragic. If there's anything to be learned with Colangelo's tenure, it's that you gotta keep draft picks because overspending to get mid-level guys to come here or to stay almost never works out. You can only get quality talent to stay here through the draft.

Mozgov cost the Cavs two firsts. They're doing well, but that's a steep cost.

Resigning Lowry to 4 years will go down as one of the woat moves in Raptors history and that speaks volume.

Imagine this dude 2 years from now :merchant:

Maybe he'll be better with a new coach to reign him in? :yeshrug:

It was either him or sign Bledsoe to a max, and I'm sure Bledsoe had the same meniscus surgery Wade had and Rose will have now. There's no telling how healthy Bledsoe is going to be in 2-3 years from now. And the only way to obtain would've been through sign and trade because he's a RFA right? This team doesn't have a lot of attractive assets besides JV and the possible Knicks lottery pick next year.

Match ups breh

7game series
I think Amir/Patterson are better than for their 4s, I think JJ matches up real well with Deng, and I think Lowry and Dragic is a wash. Wade> Demar, and Hassan is better than Val but Val could get him in foul trouble. The Raptors bench is much better and I'd say that's the difference, they have no depth and that can kill you in the playoffs.

The 6
I have a feeling the raps will show up tonight, may not be a win but it'll be close

Nope!

Why @ me with no message? I post almost after every game anyway.

I expected a loss tonight. It was ugly but it made for some entertaining fukkery. The wholesale line change in the 3rd q, Psycho T vs Festivus Ezeli, DeRozan shamelessly gunning for stats in a blowout. The Warriors are elite. They've got more talent and more experience. They play at a pace that the Raptors current bball IQ doesn't allow them to function at as a team. Part of that is coaching, part of that is just the talent of their roster. Having Jeff Green or Aaron Afflalo in a Raptor uniform wasn't going to change what happened tonight materially. A legit big would have been more impactful, and that's the trade I thought Masai would make at the deadline.

50 wins and a 2nd-round appearance is still the goal, and it's still well within reach.

As far as the long-term concerns that you're all having fits about, we have enough flexibility to address that down the line. One trade can change everything in he NBA, and if we fail to win a round I'm sure they'll explore options like trading Lowry/DeMar/JV. Based on their track record at some point this season I believe Kyle and DeMar will rediscover their all-star forms. Otherwise they may just play their way out of town.

Knicks up next. Just what we need. End the losing streak, and let the team feel good about themselves.

Casey needs to devise an offence that doesn't rely so heavily on Lowry and Derozan to create. It's obviously taken a toll on Lowry, and Derozan just isn't creative enough for this strategy to be reliable.

DeRozan said himself that Casey lets them do whatever they want on the offense, but have to keep his defensive principles. It explains a lot why its shyt.

Do you think Casey is going be here next year? Casey has only one more guaranteed year on his contract, his last year is fully unguaranteed :lupe:

All dependent on the playoffs. My guess is that either way he gets another chance for 2015-2016. But would be working on a day-to-day basis and could get axed during the season. Told ya nikkas this is 06-07 all over again. Gave Smitch an extension and watched us implode.
