I wonder if the raptors even made a pitch for afflalo or Chandler ..both would be good additions. Faried is nice but his contract is bloated and adds no rim protection which we desperately need. Masai must be thinking that he can scam someone into signing with us in 2016 but I'm not buying it

My problem with that is its 2 seasons away, you cant cruise over 2 seasons and do nothing and "hope" you land a name 2 years away....Great managers play for now and for 2 years from now....Its wait and see right now but if this team goes out early again that vitrol is ready and waiting...

How good does Masai think we are to not do anything? Did he watch the low points of this season? Does he think we can beat Atlanta or now Miami with this Exact same roster? Im baffled like... How would adding Kenneth Faried and Wilson Chandler not help us at all? For essentially nothing?

nikka mlse dont care about winning it all, they give him 15m to put a playoff team together. thats all.

farried is a much better upgrade than amir
plus you wouldnt even need to resign amir

essentially you get a better player and only pay a few million more than what your paying amir now.

even a guy like aaron affalo would have been worth it

Its easy to say trade players like they are playing cards but reality is that players make a bond with each other and build chemistry. There is no guarantee these better players will excel on our team. Its not easy to build good team chemistry which the Raptors seem to have. Was there really any player that's gonna make a big change to the raptors without giving up much assets?

Wilson Chandler's asking price was apparently 2 1st round picks

Wouldnt call that nothing

From http://www.sportsnet.ca/basketball/nba/ujiri-raptors-deserve-shot-finish-job/

But at the same time Ujiri didn’t come across as an executive who is too in love with his talent to recognize the potential limitations of the roster.

He just didn’t think he could make a meaningful upgrade now, or at least not at the price he would have been required to pay.

Some of the players believed to have come across the Raptors radar include Suns big man Miles Plumlee (eventually moved to Milwaukee); Larry Sanders, the troubled Bucks centre expected to be bought out of his deal; the Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Garnett (eventually traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves) and Alexis Ajinca of the New Orleans Pelicans.

These players mentioned above (except Plumlee) are expirings and are obtainable in the off-season. He probably didn't want to give up any assets :yeshrug:

I still think Terrence Ross is gone this off-season though. Gotta move him before he trends even more downward towards Joey Graham status

Toronto
the only teams we cant beat in a 7 game series are Cleveland, maybe Miami and a strong Chicago though.

Atlanta we have proven we can beat.
Washington...proven
Cleveland is probably going to the finals
Chicago has turbulence with Thibodeau and if he leaves i'm not sure they dont fall off a bit
Miami however is the wildcard :sadcam:

yeah but you strike NOW

bosh is out for the season, you neer know what the future can hold, next year lowry can tear his acl, derozan can get injured again.

you strike when its hot, like what the leafs used to do when they were in contention adding a brian leetch etc.

those leafs didn't win a thing

I would've liked them to trade for Wilson Chandler but the price was too high (two 1sts). They got 30 mil to spend in the summer, they probably didn't take on any extra salary until then
