It would be messed up for them to change the conclusion of the game with DLC. I think they should just leave it be. Not really a fan of developers holding back major content for a DLC that makes notable changes from the game that was on the original release disc.
Not change it but we need more light shed on WTF happened.
I for one would like to know if he was successful with reviving Joshua and who the author of the book at the end was.

I thought it was pretty clear and straight forward that

Joshua died. He said earlier in the game that the Phoenix powers don't have the ability to raise the dead.

More murky but more so my opinion

Clive lived and took on Joshua's name just like he took on Cid's name. The major theme of the game for Clive was for him to find joy and peace in LIVING despite the trauma and guilt he was carrying.

Clive was akin to a God at the end, the limits of his powers are unknown so it’s a possibility he could have revived him. The star falling and Jills reaction heavily lean towards Clive death.

so if

His limits were unknown why couldn't he save himself? It seems MUCH more probable that Clive would be able to somehow stay the petrification process than revive Joshua who had bled out during his presumably long and epic fight with Ultima.

One of the "rules" in storytelling is if you don't witness the death it didn't happen. We SAW Joshua die, we never saw Clive die. Its intentionally murky. The star falling and Jill's reaction could be a red herring OR it could be indicative of Clive's death. But due to actually witnessing Joshua perish I think if either of them were to survive it would BE the one who had attained God-like power

What you’re saying is possible but the fact the God of that world (Clive at the time) basically attempted the impossible means there is a good chance he could make the impossible possible meaning Joshua revival is a feasible thing at that point. Clive was falling apart at the end because despite him being Ultima supposed perfect vessel his body couldn’t contain the power. There is a greater chance in the belief that he died but before that brought his brother back.

Clive revived him at the end though?

Did I miss something
I thought the same as well, guess others interpreted it different. That’s what happens when the ending is open ended it leaves things open for interpretation.:yeshrug:

now im scared to click on these spoilers again lol
Nah it’s cool, it’s nothing you don’t already know. Hell in fact at this point any story related content from the original game shouldn’t have to be covered. Guess we are just a courteous bunch in here.:lolbron:
