nice review, would love to see you come back and review it after you play it for yourself and see if you change how you feel. From what I'm reading
The game is better than XIII.
The plot is a mess.
The game mechanics are good but the main game is easy.
There's barely much story. The open world part is mostly barren and really lacks story.
It sounds like the reverse of XIII. Opens up in the beginning and linear in the end.
Magic is trash.
The focus on the main cast is good but the side characters needed more focus and they basically get a quest and it's a wrap for them.
The final chapter is good and so is the ending apparently.
Main game can be finished in 25-30 hours if you don't do side content.
The side content is mostly fetch quests and monster hunts.
There are only a couple cities in the game that can be fully explored.
Expect the game to be polarizing.
I'm lowering my expectations to a 7/10 game. The game sounds like a step in the right direction for the series but as a game built off the corpse of another game (Versus XIII) it's sounding like a Frankenstein mash up. It's obviously not going to live up to the massive hype built by Versus and all those years. This is a game that's been in development 4 or so years after they quietly canceled Versus and because it's not completely original it sounds like it suffers for it. Sounds like they took elements of Versus and tried to address some of the criticism of XIII being so linear (with half of that game being a glorified tutorial for a battle system that wasn't that complex) and did a decent enough job at putting out an acceptable product.
The bottom line is we don't need massive AAA JRPGs of this scale. They can't make games this large and graphic heavy and still have stuff like fully fleshed out towns and worlds. Look at Persona 5. It is stylish but it looks like a HD version of a PS2 level game. Because they didn't blow their wad on photorealistic looking graphics like XV the focus can be on other things and overall it can be a better game for it.
I wouldn't mind at all I'd Square dialed it down on the graphics and focused on story and world and made something more fleshed out and less pretty. These games are getting too big for their britches. It's hurting them overall.
let the new ppl eatAlso I think if this is your 1st real dive into JRPG's or final fantasy it's probably going to blow you away.
Like if you don't game that much but play final fantasy's and you pick this up
So for alot of people this is going to be there FF7.

I was just saying the impressions I read and my opinion on where these games have been going. My ultimate edition just shipped but I doubt I get it before release day. I might have to buy another copy just to play day one.nice review, would love to see you come back and review it after you play it for yourself and see if you change how you feel.
