Not gonna spoiler this as the game no longer exist but I think the Stella was always dead plot twist could have worked well in Versus depending on how they managed to pull it off.
The female protagonist was supposed to appear only to Noctis. She was supposed to be a ghost which visited Noctis from the afterlife. The crystal commanded Noctis to kill her when they were children. In other concepts, I recall her simply disappearing and Noctis returning to his home country without knowing if she was ever found again.

Most of the characters couldn't interact with the female character (which was one of the reasons this character couldn't work with the new narrative for the game and so, it didn't make the cut). Noctis would dream about her and take this hallucinations as reality. She appeared to guide Noctis and lead her to fulfill his duty. She was a special ghost since she died before she could fulfill her mission in life, so the angel helped her come back from the other dimension. The revelation that she had been a ghost for the entire game happened before the gate to the other dimension was opened. This character wasn't in the game when I started my work on it.

I remember that and one point, a big ray of light was supposed to appear in the sky, which was the door to the other dimension, the afterlife (which was called versus and that was the meaning of the game title). A bad character (I think it was -------) caused the gate to this dimension to open. The focus of the villains was to kill an angel who lived in the afterlife and took care of the ghosts. The female protagonist could talk to every character in this dimension. In the end the angel helped the characters to return to their world but Noctis was too damaged and he ended sleeping with the ghosts and the female protagonist.

Some of this stuff sounds like the mythos of Final Fantasy XIII and the being they call "the angel" is pretty much the goddess Etro of FNC.

That sounds cool on paper, but unless they put it in the game its a no no. There's a reason why it ended like this.

But quoted from there
So Versus would have featured...

... children murdering other children because of voices in their heads
... yakuza offering familiars as sacrifices in order to gain powers
... blood spilling enemies
... murdered girls coming back from the death as beautifully designed female characters
... people hurting themselves in order to view ghosts
... an entire nation worshipping the idea of death
... dog puppies that would transform into merciless ninjas

Just let that sink in.

GOD DAMN NORMURA :damn:

We def finna get that Aeris death scene in the remake and its going to be off the charts

It was supposed to be a dark game. Sounded like a lot of death and wild themes. I wish they'd just go public with the original plan. At this point it wouldn't hurt fans to know what was dropped. I remember Tabata saying Stella wouldn't work in the new game so they dropped her. If she's some ghost chick of a girl Noctis murdered as a child it makes sense.

As I stated earlier in the thread people just mad it's not a dark Witcher type final fantasy. Cynical nikkas.

Better they don't talk about it what was missing in versus. Just gonna create a bunch of try hard news articles bytching about being shortchanged

Damn they need to work on this game's lack of context, back story and cutscene placement. No way I'm watching some movie to be in the know about a 10 year developed/redeveloped game. That said the gameplay is absolute fire and the immersion is impressive.

Hell no. All that weird, confusing mythos from XIII needed to stay the fukk away. Versus sounds pretty trash tbh with all the ghosts and child murdering shyt. The simplified plot in XV was great in theory, bad in execution. They fukking cut everything goddamn.

5 hours in now and I'm addicted. They got the level progression down very well. I wish there were more fight opportunities though. I'm not complaining though because I'm guessing if you want more battles you need to level up enough to hold your own at night. It seems like more monsters come out at night. My only complaint at this point is how the story plays an incredibly minor part in the game overall. I mean, I get the general idea of what's happening but there isn't much in individual character development. Overall a fantastic game so far. I'm loving it.

There's plenty of fight opportunities tho. Just walk around and random magiteck soldiers get air dropped onto your crew. Plus the dozens of questshunts available at pretty much all times.

And I can't remember who said it earlier, but yeah, how the dungeons are done in this game are very inventive IMO.

The first 3-5 hours in, I was a lil bored with it doing a bunch of random quests, but I've opened up to the game more now and have pushed the story a lil more as well. I'm at chapter 4 with about level 24 characters. Game is pretty fun to me and story isn't the greatest, but it's not bad to me either. I watched Kingsglaive and Brotherhood and while I do feel they probably should've just incorporated them into the game somehow, I can understand a few reasons why they didn't as well.
