It's all fun and games until people are labeled drug dealers based on hearsay or contempt, and not on evidence. It also allows the government to more easily frame political opponents or activists without recourse or due process. All you have to do is drop a dime bag next to a victim.

:patrice: why are the opponents of this comparing the Philippines to the west at its current time...they were a colony till WW2.....the US went through a similar wild west stage till the beginning of the 1900s when townspeople had to put hands on criminals and shoot them or hang them in the town square

Now you wanna moralize and lecture these folks for doing the same thing.

Yet you'll accuse liberals of moral relativism

What lense should I be using Bahrain?

:sas2: red herring but ill bite anyway

Sure buddy lets pretend Bahrain puts women in black potato sacks to combat the huge problem they had of women stripping everywhere, and they behead gays because they had lots of random attacks of males being raped by homosexuals and they want 12 year old girls to get married to 50 year old men because there is an uptick in cases of that rapid aging disease.

see the difference.

You see absolutely no issue with this? If we were neighbors that didn't like each other, and I ratted you to the police as being a drug dealer, you wouldn't like a trial to prove your innocence?

Also, even if you are dealing drugs, is a punishment of death an applicable and just use of force relative to the crime?

I don't know about "on sight", but I could see this working in a lot of countries if the suspect is entitled to a fair trial, knowing that if convicted they get the death penalty

:ehh: Its not perfect..and yes its clearly in a moral grey area BUT from what ive read and seen they are targeting well known dealers and warning them first

but i see this more as a disaster survival situation...
Would i normally steal food from a grocery store NO..but if its after hurricane katrina and i haven't eaten in 3 days im putting a brick through those windows

These people lived in terror for years..the streets were unwalkable, the police corrupted,Rapes,Home invasions,Robberies you name it...what were they to do..wait for their turn to be brutalized?Trust the broken justice system?

what would you have done?

I understand its not perfect but as long as its stopped after the crime goes down and a better more just system is worked out i dont have a problem with it

I would make all drugs legal, have the government treat drug addiction like a medical issue as opposed to crime issue, and create job opportunities in low income areas through job programs.

I would try that before going to wild wild west governing vigilantism

:francis: I absolutely agree with you but you have to realize the Gap between total legalization and where they are now cannot be crossed in a day..or even a year..it will take years maybe decades to establish infrastructure and education

Legalizing now is like taking your pet goat to the hills and setting it free to join wild mountain goats...it will fall off the cliff and die as soon as you drive away

They have to deal with the immediate problem..the well armed well funded cartels running meth labs in the forests and killing people then they can work on those social and economic problems.
