Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from "The Wire") is Detective John Luther in the Serious Crimes Unit in London, England. The show is kinda like a darker more violent version of Sherlock Holmes.

Each episode has a creepy serial killer or villain he has to stop. One ep had a guy that killed girls, drained their blood, then froze it. The next time he murdered he'd write weird shyt all over the walls in the previous victim's blood. All the villains are really weird and have creepy traits.

There is also a character that has a relationship with Luther that kinda reminds me of the Joker and Batman. Or Clarice and Hannibal Lecter. I won't say who this character is but they're a sociopath, and would definitely fall into the "villain" category, but most of the people Luther faces are worse so he's kinda like :yeshrug: and accepts the character's help.

Anyway, great show. And the last 2 eps of season 1 in particular are :whoo:

3 is filming now.

Season 1 is 6 eps and season 2 is 4 eps. Season 3 will be 4 eps. It's a British show so they divide their seasons up differently, not sure why.

^^ U my fellow BB breh but Board Walk aint fell off....

This season has not been well received by most people on this board. Especially not compared to the first two seasons. And keep in mind, most of the people posting in the Season 3 thread are from SOHH and posted in the 1 and 2 threads. It's not as if these are new people shytting on the show for no reason....they're long time fans who are disappointed.

The episode before was terrible, but this past episode was very good. It's not fully appreciated after that terrible episode, but I think more would've like it if had followed the episode that ended with the Gyp shootout.
yeah, I can see that.

And the episode before this last one was terrible. I got no comment for that one.

Haven't watched the latest episode, but I did peep the one where Marg and Owen smashed again.

What a boring ass episode. Had to rewind like 3 times cause I kept dosing off. I don't know what it is, but Season 3 just is boring over all. And even when they do try and amp up the action, the shyt just seems forced and dumb.

After Jimmy died, the show is :flabbynsick:

Like the exact opposite from what happened after some key players died in The Wire.

Fred.

its a mix between 2 reasons

1. quality over quantity

2. British TV companies don't have the funding to do 10-15 ep seasons like their US counterparts

that shyt last week was terrible.

They hadn't brought up lil pyro for a while, so when they mention it out of nowhere, I knew it was a red herring.

It still is a good show but it seems like something is missing. Could be because Jimmy is gone from the show. I like that they have given Harrow some screen time but they need to focus more on Capone and Luciano as well as Chalky's story. That's their money storylines, but now u go weeks without hearing from some of those characters. It's looking like their refocsuing on Nucky and Margaret, and while Steve Buscemi is the lead his storyline is probably the most uninteresting unless it involved his brother or Jimmy and his mom.

Debut: SUNDAY, NOV. 4 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)
Gillian (Gretchen Mol) makes her peace with Jimmy’s death, though not with Nucky (Steve Buscemi), as Gyp (Bobby Cannavale) arrives to play ally. Working off his debt to O’Banion (Arron Shiver), Van Alden (Michael Shannon) attends a meeting with Capone (Stephen Graham) and Torrio (Greg Antonacci); later, after a workplace meltdown, he considers Sigrid’s (Christiane Seidel) case for staying put versus resuming a life on the lam. With help from Gaston Means (Stephen Root), Nucky pays an unscheduled visit to Andrew Mellon (James Cromwell), offering the Treasury Secretary a recommendation and a business proposal. Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) makes a stand on birth control; Nucky and Owen (Charlie Cox) shop for a birthday pony; Billie (Meg Chambers Steedle) eyes a future on the silver screen, to Nucky’s chagrin.
Written by Terence Winter and Howard Korder; directed by Tim Van Patten.

Episode #33: “The Milkmaid’s Lot”
Debut: SUNDAY, NOV. 11 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Reeling from Gyp’s most recent attack, Nucky vows to eliminate his nemesis through a coalition of familiar partners. In Washington, the arrest of a high-profile bootlegger puts Daugherty (Christopher McDonald) and Jess Smith (Ed Jewett) on the hot seat. Emily (Lucy and Josie Gallina) gets a scaled-down birthday party; Gillian blames an absent Harrow (Jack Huston) for Tommy’s (Brady and Connor Noon) latest misadventure; Gyp decides to buy a town’s silence; Broadway mourns a fallen star.
Written by Rolin Jones; directed by Ed Bianchi.

Episode #34: “A Man, a Plan…”
Debut: SUNDAY, NOV. 18 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Nucky reaches out to Gaston Means to keep Jess Smith quiet in Washington, and enlists Owen to neutralize Gyp’s alliance with Joe Masseria (Ivo Nandi) in New York. Margaret considers alternate futures, at the hospital and at home; Van Alden’s side business backfires; Gyp fumes when a shipment comes up short; Harrow coerces an apology for Julia (Wrenn Schmidt); Chalky (Michael Kenneth Williams) sees opportunity in the ashes of a boardwalk institution.
Written by Dave Flebotte; directed by Jeremy Podeswa.

Episode #35: “Two Imposters”
Debut: SUNDAY, NOV. 25 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Gyp makes his move in Atlantic City, forcing Nucky and Eddie (Anthony Laciura) to seek refuge with Chalky. Luciano (Vincent Piazza) makes a deal he’ll come to regret; Harrow loses his house privileges.
Written by Howard Korder; directed by Allen Coulter.
