20% of there national Assembly is black, even still I will agree that blacks in Cuba are marginalized but to say there is no black ppl in Cuba in power is exaggerated, I just love how people up vids and documentaries about the struggles that blacks go through in ABC country as if we living in a black utopia in our own backyard

I did a little a research and the pic of the guy posted just got elected this year. And before that it was white guy in power.
Also a few years ago black journalists and professors in america wrote about the racism in cuba and said that blacks in cuba hold no significant power though they always had seats in parliament there were never any blacks elected to the position of president of parliament. This something new and your acting like it was always that way.

I never compared cuba and america in progress towards blacks in government. I said blacks never held any significant power and that was true until this year. The fact that it has taken this long and that cuba has a higher black population then america is telling of there racist attitudes.
Why are you trying to bring it back to america when I am talking about cuba. No one in this thread said america was any better in dealing with racism?
I just dont really see what is to appreciate about Castro at all. People must really want to live under a dictator
