Just sitting back reading & trying to understand what's going on. Real sad what happen to this kid, I hope his family has a lawyer but we all know this kid will be "on trial" for white america. They'll will throw everything against the wall hoping something will stick.
Also my baby brother has been a DPD(dallas police officer) for the last 4 years. Now some cops are dikks who abuse their power & racial profile but there a lot who really try to protect & serve. This quote can be applied to every part of life, POWER is a very dangerous potent drug. Too many times officers of the law hide behind their police chief & badge & feel they can do what they want to minorities, especially blacks because black life is so devalued in america.
But I spoke with my brother about this situation & he explained to me this situation would NEVER happen in dallas because their police chief(who is black) holds his officers accountable & so will the DA craig watkins, chief brown tries very hard to keep black & cop relations on good terms in the inner city. In dallas we have a BPA(black police officer association) where the chief & other prominent officers of the dept including white officers come & talk with leaders of the community so we can voice our concerns about things we're seeing from officers.
I'm a community organizer & I go to a lot of those meetings & we try to bridge the gap so white & latino DPD cops don't feel it's open season & they can harass & profile our black youth.
Also it's disappointing that the police chief of ferguson waited so long to issue a statement on the matter & it shows the dept doesn't have a leg to stand on so they will make the victim the criminal.
Dallas is a huge city with a LOT of back officers & their city is different but there has to be some ferguson police spokesperson or someone in EVERY police dept that will come out & talk to the people in community to understand our pov because the victimization & profiling of our people has to stop...
