In a disturbing interview, the family of Major Davis, Jr., the man accused of shooting to death Officer Perry Renn, is
speaking out about the shooting and blaming the police officer for his death in an interview with WISH-TV. Family members told WISH-TV's Jessica Smith that Officer Renn should have stayed in his car "since he could see Davis had a gun." "I don't know how the police was shooting," Davis' aunt, Yvonne Moornan said. "I don't know if they took concern of any kids running around."
Family members of Davis, who has four children under the age of 10, said they were still struggling to believe he could be a part of something like this despite his lengthy criminal history. The family still blame IMPD for the death of Davis' father, who died of a heart attack while being arrested on public intoxication charges in 2003. Davis' father did three years in state prison on drug charges. The family insists that Davis isn't a bad person, complaining that he was scarred for life because of what IMPD did to his father. One of the officers involved in the 2003 arrest of Davis' father was Officer Renn.
"I imagine he figured they were going to try and kill him," Pam Moornan, grandmother of Davis' children said. "I mean cause look what they did to his father."
