In the case of protests what you are in fact doing is calling for direct action by others. You are complaining that someone else should do something. The president, your congressman, the mayor, a judge, whomever. But you acknowledge that a direct action must be taken to appease you while refusing to simply act on your own behalf either as an individual or as a group. A crowd of hundreds demanding loudly that a group of several need do anything is a logical absurdity, as the crowd possesses the ability to simply force its demand through.

This is why protests are in fact encouraged by the system. They do nothing.
But... thats where the room gets quiet... so we don't talk about that.
