I've been hearing over the past couple of days and whenever an injustice the sudden urge to move to from America. I fully respect that feeling and decision. But I say look at it from a historical perspective. Us as African Americans. Us with means should be traveling back and forth to Africa as much as possible. If not for business at least for leisure. We are American and have American interests. More often those fall in line with White American interest, but what about Black interests? Why are black Americans so readily interested into traveling to Europe?
There are beaches in Africa. There are Stonehenges that predate Europe in Africa. There are family oriented tourist spots. My point is every Black American should be a Pan African and it shouldn't come after an injustive. All our legends Dubois, Garvey understood the importance of not going back but traveling forward. No disrespect to anyone in what they do with their money, but there's a real disconnect.
How many us have traveled to Birmingham or Memphis or Dunbar high school in DC/Baltimore before the DR or Brazil? Our money, time and energy should be fully invested in our history, legacy and our future. The 60's wasn't the end of the struggle. It was the motherfukkin' preamble. It was the prologue to our historical constitution. Never quit, never stop fighting, never stop learning, never stop gaining. Each one teach one.
