Maybe this guy is actually a good cop, maybe he's just doing it for show. I don't know. The actual good cops in this country should be joining these protests, because all these scumbags murdering and harassing civilians make THEM look bad. They should want change as much as anybody. Their reputations are trash too because they're guilty by association.

Had a buddy of mine tell me that he would run over protestors in his car and that they didn't pay taxes or have jobs.... hurt to have to have these conversations with people I grew up with, but at the end of the day I can't blame people who aren't on Twitter and don't REALLY know what's going on. The media has done a great job of subtly making all of the protestors look like criminals or bums.

Maybe true but The Bay marches to a different beat than the rest of the country. I believe this was sincere in this case.

At the protest I attended cops were with the people and the chief of police made a statement. You got some PDs using this as a bridge to the community, and of course some running to build positive PR.

FINAL THOGUHTS

well brehs....

I'm kind of speechless because I'm torn. Spent my day in DC (yesterday) and let me just say... it was a great spectacle but I'm not sure this generation is ready for the next phase.

As I watched/listened to the government agent (Sharpton) facilitate and lead the march it dawned on me....

This strategy of march/protest and flash mob (die-in) does nothing but incentivize the police to kill more minorities (Think about that)

All of the police made overtime yesterday. The city made money. There was no legislation passed or none put on the table to force police to police in a different manner.

JUST ONE BIG emotional spectacle to spread awareness on a reoccurring issue that honestly happens so often to black men at the hands of law enforcement you would think there was laws put into place that combat it.......

- There was a Sharpton led march for Sean Bell in NY back in 08
- one for Trayvon back in 13,
- one for Mike Brown, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner yesterday

Are the police being forced to change the way they police? The simple answer is no

My heart goes out to the mothers of the lost children. I'm seriously at a loss for words. You can feel their pain when they speak and there is no way they'll ever get over the losses they've had to endure.

The system is so incredibly broken

The system isn't broken. It's working exactly the way it's supposed to.

For the last time, this system is not meant for us therefore why live in it. I know it is hard to digest but come on something has to be done. I currently proposed the idea of self-determination in the Garner thread all I heard was how it was not going to work and I asked for other solutions it was nothing but crickets. That idea is a sensible one.
