LA Progressive has a new post on

Glimpses Of Our Power

Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers: Research over the last 100 years of resistance movements shows that when just 3.5% of the public mobilizes to support a movement for social, economic or environmental justice, it always wins. Many win with a smaller percentage, but no government can withstand 3.5% of the population working for transformative change.

DeAndre Joshua Shot Dead in #Ferguson Riots – Was Good Friend of Murder Witness Dorian Johnson

On Monday night 20 year-old DeAndre Joshua was shot dead in Ferguson.
His charred body was found in a car on Canfield Drive just yards from where Michael Brown was shot dead.

Casualty: DeAndre Joshua, 20. was found ‘shot’ dead in his car in Ferguson, as the St Louis suburb descended into violence in the wake of the decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson over the killing of Michael Brown. (Daily Mail)

CNN reported: Joshua had been shot in the head, police said. An accelerant was used to light him on fire, but the fire went out on its own, police said. He had burns to his arm, fingers and both legs.

USA Today reported on his brutal murder.

Amid the rubble and ashes of a city convulsed in anger over the death of Michael Brown, a different family stood in shock and grief over the death of another young black man: DeAndre Joshua, 20.

At 9 a.m. Tuesday, a resident of an apartment complex spotted Joshua’s body inside a parked car, a white Pontiac Grand Prix, near Canfield Green Apartments, the same complex where Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson shot Brown on Aug. 9. Blood-soaked shattered glass lay in a pile on the ground beside the car.

Family members said Joshua’s death is tied to the protests that consumed Ferguson after St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch revealed the grand jury’s decision not to indict Wilson. But family members said they did not know specifically how he died.

DeAndre was reportedly a friend of Dorian Johnson – Michael Brown’s buddy.

Dorian Johnson, Michael Brown’s friend and accomplice, wrote about Joshua yesterday after his death.

Jury was Absolute fukking Bullshyt (in just 4 facts)
  • #1. Conflict of interest - Robert McCulloch grew up in the St Louis area, in a family full of cops. He wanted to be a cop, and became a prosecutor so he could work with law enforcement. He also has a reputation for not going after cops for misconduct. Why in the ever-loving fukk was he allowed to prosecute this case with such a massive personal bias and conflict of interest? (source)
  • #2. Process deviated significantly from the norm - Everything about the way this Grand Jury hearing was handled was different than how the process normally works. Normal prosecutors are there to get indictments, so they assemble their best evidence to establish probably cause to send the case to trial. They don’t include every piece of evidence (including evidence that undermines their own case). Bob McCulloch did the opposite. (source)
  • #3. Prosecutor undermined his own witnesses - McCulloch was more critical of testimony from witnesses who’s version of events supported Michael Brown (aka, HIS OWN witnesses) than he was of Darren Wilson’s testimony (aka, the defendant he was supposed to be prosecuting)… even asking Wilson questions in a way that allowed him to affirm his self-defense argument. (source)
  • #4. Jury panel given unconstitutional law to read - The Grand Jury panel was given a copy of the Missouri legal statue regarding justifiable police homicide to read before listening to Wilon’s testimony. However, that law was ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court in 1985, specifically because it allowed an officer to kill a fleeing suspect (like Michael Brown). The panel listened to testimony believing this outdated law to be true for OVER TWO MONTHS until they were handed a correct copy, and were not informed about the specific reason the law was no longer in effect.
