It's not anything classified but all you have to do is look at how quick the US got the Japanese into interment camps...if a person doesn't understand part of the reason a census is conducted is so they can identify citizens of an area based upon varying demographics than I don't know what to say...

However the point is that it was an insurgency on multiple fronts fighting against an enemy that had more/better weaponry as well as an indigenous population.
