He's making her an example because she's supposed to be one of the higher profile more powerful and influential "black feminist" and this is a woman that has spent years to fukking with Tariq. Plus it sums of his point of how powerful they really are as a group. She is the "Flag" to the anti black men cause so going at her is going at the whole group. You make her the example and it prevents other women from hopping on that bandwagon
