LMAO @ Jered Weaver being better than Felix Hernandez

What am I missing? The guy who allows fewer baserunners per 9 and who has a lower career adjusted ERA (which accounts for different ballparks) is the lesser pitcher? The guy who is clearly having a better season than Felix for the 2nd consecutive year isn't as good? Is it because he doesn't have the nickname "King"? I don't see it.

Felix in 2009-2010 was the better pitcher but now.....it's Weaver. Times change, catch up.

Verlander > Weaver > Felix

Past two seasons since Felix's Cy Young year (when Greinke should've won :scheme:):

Weaver: 33-9, 2.31 ERA, .93 WHIP, 7.3 K/9ip
Felix: 24-19, 3.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 8.6 K/9ip

Where are you getting your WAR stats from? Even though I would expect Felix to have a higher WAR since Weaver spent time on the DL this year, both ESPN and baseballreference have Weaver with a higher WAR this year.[/B] Weaver leads the league in ERA, WHIP, hits per 9 innings, and adjusted ERA. No way you can spin that into Felix having a better year so far, especially not with that home ballpark he plays in.

actually...most advanced metrics on fangraphs (I trust their numbers more than ESPN or baseball reference) have Felix far ahead of Weaver

xFIP
Felix Hernandez - 3.28
Jared Weaver - 3.89

FIP
Felix Hernandez - 2.90
Jared Weaver - 3.22

WAR
Felix Hernandez - 4.4
Jared Weaver - 3.1

tERA
Felix Hernandez - 3.47
Jared Weaver - 3.58

and Felix has been way more unlucky than Weaver
BABIP
Felix Hernandez - .296
Jared Weaver - .230

Id take him over Jered in a heartbeat. Jered is nice but Felix just has that potential where if hes on he is virtually unhittable. Jered is never THAT good

The same Jered Weaver who threw a no-hitter this year? :what:

Tru story. But he's only 26 and in 2 years at age 28 he will be a free agent. Dude is about to break the bank and be out of Seattle. So I don't feel bad for him :manny:

The thing is the pitching position is the msot unpredictable and volatile position in sports. He may not be as elite in two years. Losing velocity, mechanical flaws, and injuries can shift a pitchers production quick.
