Between saving, scholarships and working a student can get through college debt free. No, not everyone would be able to afford a private college but you can still get a good education/degree from a state college. But people would much rather complain about the government for an inefficient and downright shameful borrowing process than do anything they have to in order to avoid that process.

I personally don't give a fukk about anyone else and their family but I know my kid will go to college without debt because borrowing is not an option.
put down the ayn rand and go backflip into a bonfire :umad:

i think we all know that state college can be done a lot cheaper, its something that more ppl need to be considering. but stop acting like even going to a good state college is realistic without taking out loans, youre just dead ass wrong

also breh no offense even though this isnt an offensvie statement. but i would bet almost anything that your kid is not going to a private college without borrowing. not saying that anyone needs a private college

My daughter is 5 and I contribute to her 529 every month and when I finish paying off my own debt I'll contribute even more. Her College savings is in my financial plan; Just like I plan for retirement , buying a house or whatever else. I don't treat her education as a after thought and I'm sorry that you and other people don't think the same way.

I think in 13 years I can save enough for her to get the education she needs. Not to mention I'll be actively searching for scholarships and making sure her grades are good.

People's parents couldnt have forseen the ridiculous increase in tuition in their life time. The educational system is broken. The rich get richer, etc.

Japan, but from the 989
I'm just going to say it. The only way this generation of old fukks will understand that we are fed up with this bullshyt they are pulling in Congress is if we go in mass down to the United States Capital Building and start fukking shyt up. These old fukks don't care about student loans when they were to school for less than 500 dollars. While the future of America is putting down payments with their souls just to get a decent education. fukk those old people. Seriously the day when we have had enough unholy hell is going to break out. Unbelievable, Congress just sits on their hands and watches the rates double. If this was some banks in trouble they would be sucking dikk from the back to get on the bank's good side.

:shaq: sometimes you have to bring the news directly to the people :mjpls:

:russ: Nah, I agree, this deserves to stand on its own. I only posted in that thread because it seems like threads like these always die.

I'm not merging shyt anymore or posting or doing anything unless some explicitly asks at this point anyhow. I just do what people want and it seems like this is what they want.

Upset isn't the right word, confused and exasperated are more like it lol.

I think there should be a HL random thoughts thread though, just to shoot the shyt like other forums have :manny:

As far as this goes, I need to check how it applies. Like are the rates of your current loans fixed or what...
