This is entirely unnecessary and I laugh when I see it still happen. Unless we're talking a $150,000 vehicle and you want to make sure you don't lose your shirt....this is stupid

it's unnecessary since you can do the legwork yourself
but it can be a convenience thing if they not charging that much
i thought about trying it cause my tactics weren't working and dealers were telling me to foh, ultimately i found a deal that made sense on my own before i gave up
but most ppl ain't willing to call a 100 dealers across multiple states to find a deal like i did

Pretty much this, the only time I would suggest a broker is if you're so pressed for time that you are willing to pay someone to do the legwork.

a broker?

Yea. I did everything online. Picked out the car I wanted from the broker’s stock. They sent me the window sticker and also a breakdown of every single dollar so I knew exactly what I was paying upfront. No need to negotiate or wait for the salesman to go “haggle” with their manager to bring the price down.

I only went to a dealership to see the car in person and make sure that the size was what I wanted. All the paperwork was signed online and they delivered the car to my place and handed me the keys.

some brokers will charge a small fee, but the money you save, and not have to deal with the bullshyt is more than worth it.

Never talking to a salesman again is

Ask him much it cost to hire the broker :manny:

At the end of the day it depends on where you’re going (brand, car group, etc) and what the reputation is.

People really want to make car buying a science. It’s not at all. And unless you’re just too scared to ask for applicable rebates, company discounts as well as dealer discounts, I stand by the notion that hiring a broker is a waste of money. I’m willing to bet what he paid for is more than the broker finessed out of the dealership.

These days, dealers will gladly tell a customer to pound sand if their offers are outlandish. They want to take a customer out of the market and away from adjacent dealers, but only within a proper margin of reason

And FYI, when I was doing sales, I never had a broker work me on price...But a financially meticulous retired old couple that brings in a gridded notebook of car features and refuses to leave the dealership :unimpressed:

Brokers just want to get shyt done quickly like the sales person:hubie:

:what:

I got 14.9% off MSRP and I didn’t pay my broker a dime. I only tipped the delivery driver for bringing the car. Like I said, some will charge, and some won’t. I lease, and hate dealing with the BS every 36 months.

Some people like to do things the way that they are used to doing things. Nothing wrong with that.

My condolences for anyone who has no choice but to buy a car or home in this awful market right now.

I might have to buy both. :snoop:

Got a 3br house but just got married and are going to start a family soon. Housing market is wack.
And I got a 2006 Accord I been meaning to upgrade for a minute. I went to dealers in December 2019 to find a deal but figured I’d wait. My car still runs fine but it’s at the point where a major repair is around the corner and I’d rather just cop another car
