its just a NRTI (basically a nucleotide analogue - integrates into the reverse transcriptase to stop viral transcription), its the same thing used to give for prophylactic treatment of HIV transmission from HIV+/+ mothers to their fetus. There's been some evidence of lowering transmission rates (study published in New England Journal of Medicine, it was a pretty big deal). It is definitely not 100% effective.

BTW - many prostitutes in Northern Europe do not get/transmit HIV. They lack CCR5 receptors on their monocytes and are immune from it. You can also wipe out someone's bone marrow and transplant it with a marrow line that is CCR5-/-. That's a lot of work but it will prevent any HIV risk, and there's reports of some cure.

I'll let you guys know when I drop the official vaccine.

No it's not that, you gotta read between the lines my dude

Why would they put this drug out right now and tell people this lowers your chance of getting HIV when you have sex with an HIV infected person

Why should you be having sex with an HIV infected person in the first place


We don't know how effective this drug is, all it says is that it helps prevent you from getting HIV that could only be 50% of the time but they won't tell you that



And the last and most important reason is that if there is the perceived notion that there is a drug that will allow you to have sex with anyone and still not get HIV well you gonna have more teen pregnancies, STD's and "OOOPS" babies than ever because people are gonna be going raw more than ever.


All I'm saying is don't trust everything the government puts out, you gotta question everything.

I agree with not trusting the government but I think its the other way around as far as people having more babies...they are aiming for population control, they dont want people to have more babies...IMO.
