Favorite lightsaber duel? (STAR WARS Episodes 1-6)

ROTS had the best duels. Palpatine bodying 3 Jedi Masters in seconds and still losing to Mace Windu is some of the best power scaling Ive ever seen in a movie, lets you know hands down that Mace was a PROBLEM

Obi Wan vs Anakin on Mustafar is the best choreographed and most emotional battle in the whole series.

Its not from the movies but the Kenobi series battle between Armored Vader and Flabby Wan Kenobi where Anakin drags him through the fire was dope af to me too

Yup.

George Lucas said Mace won that fight fair and square. No matter how anybody wants to flip it, Mace is the better duelist.

Everyone was hard on him for treating him the way he did, but Mace's biggest short sight was trusting Anakin would do the right thing (on more than one occasion)

When he killed Qui gonn and stared Obi Wan down while the force field was still up and he stayed right there and waited for him.

He wanted ALL the smoke.


Number 2 is Anakin and Obi Wan and Yoda vs Dooku. (I'm counting that as one fight)

That was the first time we saw Yoda get busy

I never liked the idea of Yoda fighting with a lightsaber. To me he always came off as one of those wise "zen master" characters who was on such a higher level of consciousness that he didn't even NEED to fight. Yoda shouldn't even need a lightsaber, he can just walk into the room and mindwipe everyone around him in a nanosecond like he's Professor X.

The whole point of his character in Empire was that being a Jedi was more than just having a cool laser sword--it was about discipline, patience, wisdom, hard work, and spiritual growth.

Empire’s light saber battle was awesome because Vader was probably his most human in the entire 6 story arc he was in, ever.

He was LITERALLY IMPRESSED by Luke Skywalker, and proud of his son. I think he was sincere in him and luke taking over the empire with the dark side and taking out palpatine. The conviction in his voice at least sounded as so.

Its like if lebron never raised bronny, was told of his existence as a junior in HS and then bronny at 17 holds his own vs lebron today. Vader wasn’t even trying to kill him, just test him. He had like 5 chances to end Luke but wanted to turn him. The stakes were so high in that fight, and you get the goat plot twist.

Its one of the only fights that felt like a DUEL too…no acrobatics or choreography looking shyt…it looked like a sword fight but with lights.

With that said OB and QG vs maul is the pinnacle. Music. Emotion. Stakes. Technicality. How it was shot. The pauses with OB ancy, maul heated and QG patient like a well studied jedi. It was perfect.

You’re not wrong but you’re not right. The prequel fights feel like this

The orignal trilogy fights feel like this

Both are entertaining but the frantic pace and flippyshyt in the prequels takes away from the stakes to me. With that said, obi and qui gonn vs maul is my #2 fight

Yoda vs dooku
Obi and anakin vs dooku

Realistically...the best saber fights haven't been in the movies/tv shows. They're all in the SWTOR/Knights of the Fallen Empire cinematics.
