Kind of the same here, Pops' a serious man and everything but he just wasn't around like that, and I left home when I was 15 so I basically tried to mold myself on my own and by looking for role models wherever I could find them...I know that's fukked up but it is what it is, I'm actually lucky I didn't end up more "messed up" than I am. He's still around and our relationship is much better but I just never looked at him for approval/guidance whatever.

My dad wasnt never around like that and when he was he either drunk or high as fukk. He passes a couple of months ago and I had mix feelings.

He had 2 major strokes from heavy alcohol and drugs use. If you seen the movie with Denzel Washington "the Flight" that was our relationship but we never had that talk like in the of the movie.

When I was a youngin I played goalie and there was a penalty shot against us. The coach flipped out and wanted to pull me out of the net and give them the open goal to protest I was like

My pops goes over and tells him I'll save it. I go back into the net and save the penalty shot, I look up and my pops and the coach are like

My daughter scores mad goals now and she looks up and sees the same face. That proud look or lack of, can make or break a future

to getting good grades

when i was growing up, it seemed like as many times as i made my father happy, there'd always be a moment of disappointment too. but now that i'm older, i feel like every time i talk to my father he's beaming with happiness when i tell him about something i'm doing. it's an interesting feeling for sure. it's like your relationship shifts a little from how it use to be...
