To answer your question more directly, in my eyes, yes she would have a reason to retaliate against me for harming her family since her wanting to do so would obviously verify that she understands why I harmed her family in the first place. you are talking in a circle in this sense. I have EVERY right to defend myself of ANY REASONABLY PERCEIVED threat which is what this was. All things being equal, I would not act surprised or bewildered if they chose to retaliate after the fact. The part about the real world chimes in here. Her cousins, understood that.
