i would have thought his biggest regret was losing his homeslice big pun so early in life and whom put him up on the game, or being convicted of tax problems and losing his freedom. to each his own i guess.

Here we go. He didn't make Pun a fat guy. Pun did. He regrets missing out on 100 million, who really wants to argue that?

No offense but the first sentence in your post is irrelevant because he got dropped from Columbia. That shooting derailed his whole career.

He bounced back on the mix tape circuit, and yes there was a bidding war but there is only a handful of artists in the 40+ years of rap that have sold what he sold....so it's a bit ridiculous to think he would've sold 6-8 mill no matter what.

Look at who his prospective labels were, and ask yourself is there a Dr. Dre or Eminem equivalent at any of them. The answer is "no". The Em co-sign alone gave him an entirely new demographic.

Fred.
The fact of the matter 50 was already on his was to possible stardom with the Columbia deal, everything was in place..including the machine.

The only reason why everybody backed out was BECAUSE he got shot in a violent matter.

Had he not got touched..it would had been another day on the block..nobody the wiser..

Im not saying he would have made the same impact with Columbia, yet there was no denying his talent even back then.

The prospective labels where outbid by Eminem, not the FACT it was Em and Dre.

Thats why its called a bidding war..

Cacinem never would have blown without Dre c/s and those classic beats

The Co-sign was essential but contrary to popular belief Dre just produced the singles. Most of SSLP was accounted for before the deal. He ain't REALLY produce more than two or three tracks for an Eminem album til Relapse.

true but one can influence a partna to improve his health and life. once upon a time i gave one of my close homies an heartfelt stern talking to when he was falling in love with the coco. he got str8 and later on thanked me for that man to man talk.

i grew up in mostly close knit black-latino (boricua) hoods so i know about homies looking out for each other, on the strength!

as far as him missing out on that $100 million? he may have been blessed not to go that route. slim shady got/made all that bank but his personal life was stress filled which he shared with fans in his lyrics.

as a wise BK poet once said ("Mo Money Mo Problems")

Dre did three tracks, including the 2 monster singles which helped cacinem blow, none of the joints Bass Brothers were going to give him radio play

50 was going to blow regardless. If you have a bidding war AND classic material already ready then you are going to blow. Not to mention the ja beef to capitalize off of. Would he did 10mill+ twice? Unlikely but definitely multi Plat trajectory before interscope. Drake wouldn't have blown without Wayne because nobody wanted to give a nickelodeon ass nikka a shot. Eminem is debatable, if he lasted till the eearly 00s era where fat Joe took off he would have stood out and made noise but who knows how much.

I don't get your fixation on the bidding war. There was a bidding war for Chief Keef. There was a bidding war for Soulja Boy.

It's not an indication of anything, other than the person is hot at the time. There have been bidding wars for numerous artists who never amounted to much.

I'm not saying 50 would be working McDonald's if not for Em and Dre but "he signed to Columbia" and "there was a bidding war" =/= he would've been a star. Hell, I'll even concede the point that he would've been a star no matter what....it's still crazy far fetched to assume he would've sold the same amount without Dre and Em, regardless of why he initially signed with them.

Fred.
