Even many black people stopped using that word and now beginning to understand the overall negative drawbacks to the n-word, even in the context of endearment. Crazy how many Latinos don't want to lose that word when many fully black people dropped it like cold turkey.

When did this shyt spread to LA County? I started a job and hear a bunch of mexicans/latinos use it often. When I took the metro train that goes through South Central, I heard some Mexican teens use it too. Never have I heard it used like this before.

Honestly, I think it comes from "edgy" hip hop becoming mainstream in all their circles. If you recreationally listen to a certain set of vocabulary all the time, especially if you've been hearing it as long as you can remember, of course you're going to parrot it in daily speech. When we were growing up, you had the n-word in hip hop but it wasn't as mainstream and most people who weren't Black knew they weren't "supposed" to say it because they hadn't grown up with it. These kids growing up with the word blasting out of their parents' speakers from the time they're 1 aren't gonna parse that shyt, they're just gonna repeat what they hear.
