RIP. His last few years sounded mad stressful… wonder if that contributed to his passing.

Late actor Raymond St. Jacques appears to be the guy in the checkered shirt.
This was definitely the gay section of the club.

The I in Team
Was he homeless at the time of his passing? About a year ago that Texas CAC was trying to evict him from his own mansion.

He was about to be evicted but Covid saved him from that embarrassment. Had he not died he would have ended up homeless.

The Dispossession of André Leon Talley
The fashion industry chewed him up and spat him out

Sad!!

I’ve thought about this a lot. When he was on top everybody wanted his attention. Fashion houses, millionaires, and everyone in between. He was on top of the world. As soon as he lost his position they all scattered like roaches. It’s all smoke and mirrors, whether it’s fashion, movies or music. As soon as you are no longer of value to people they will leave you. It’s easy to say now he should have been about his business but I imagined that he thought it would last forever. Power does that. That why losing power is so painful.

You think there’s honor in being the token faq negro for cacs? :heh:

he wasn’t saying jack shyt about racism in the same Vogue offices he worked in as long as he was getting his

You think you can just waltz into a notoriously white elitist space with high barriers to entry and bring with you all the nikkas from the block?

You think Obama was able to walk into the White House, snap his fingers, and miraculously turn America into a post-racial utopia?

Y’all are incredulously naive.

Yes, there is honor in being the first. Because somebody had to be courageous enough to walk through those halls first even it meant to not rock the boat. Change doesn’t come immediately.

And the audacity to put the obligation on him to have had to put nikkas on when that’s probably exactly whom he was trying to escape from after being abused, stoned, and molested as a child. By nikkas.

Both black and white people did him dirty.:francis:

Should black people not chart new territory on fear of being accused of being a token?

Have much of the coli on ignore, but it seems you're responding to a member who has succumbed to paranoia. That paranoia has them believing that whites hand select Blacks that they "allow" to succeed. That Black individuals don't have qualifications, talent, and skills that they bring to the table to increase revenue or add value for employers.

By labeling another Black person a token, they can rationalize their professional shortcomings.
