According to NOAA scientists, the globally-averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for January 2014 was the highest since 2007 and the fourth highest for January since reliable record keeping began in 1880. It also marked the 38th consecutive January and 347th consecutive month (almost 29 years) with a global temperature above the 20th century average. The last below-average January global temperature was January 1976 and the last below-average global temperature for any month was February 1985.

fair enough 1.2 degrees warmer is 1.2 degrees warmer for the whole globe so that must mean other areas were higher than normal to compensate for this side of the globe being extremely cold

but I think what OP is saying is that the climatologists and the government predicted that our area would see a mild winter but they were wrong because they didn't account for solar patterns

No, the OP is trying to say that because scientists predicted a warmer winter in America than it ended up being, even though it was still the fourth warmest winter in history, that means climate change isn't real because he's an idiot.

He also posts bullshyt articles with no links to sites like "biz pac review" that claim a 200 year old almanac's conjectured prediction about this winter has merit, a logical fallacy befitting of people who believe natural disasters and world events fulfill Bible prophecies.

But I was talking about the rest, really. The "science or whatever" part. Just cause I put my faith in the coach of my favorite sports team doesn't make me religious about it. But maybe I misunderstood you.

Science should never be claimed to be with one group because one group uses certain science to fit the Political, agenda-having, attention-whore version they are looking for. Questioning everything is healthy but when people can't even question certain things like this because their belief system in government is about Political, agenda-having, attention-whore version that fits their own lives.
