I said it when it dropped. Years from now, people are going to look at this battle and say “family matters” was actually the best record.

“not like us” is so simple and catchy that it worked but I rarely go back to it now

616 in LA is also extremely good
Euphoria is what some of yall (you and the like 10 other posters parroting the same shyt) wish Family Matters was.

For "Family Matters" to be such a great song in retrospect, it isn't moving units like it should. Sounds like a coping mechanism. No one playing "Family Matters" like that and it was Drake highest charting record this year on top of that. Song literally came and went, his ghostwriters did their best with the red button of a song it was supposed to be only for it to get neutralized in 30 minutes then he copped pleas with "The Heart Part 6"
Cats acting like this some small budget movie that’ll eventually get love after it’s shown on TNT for years.

Song was a big release with a major music video and his fans didn’t support it like they act like they did.

This.

I don't begrudge anyone liking the song. Don't even care if people consider it the best song out of the beef.

Hell, they can consider it the GOAT song in rap history. Cool, cool.

Having said all that, I've never seen such a disconnect between how people talk about a song on the internet, vs it's actual impact in right life.

The song tumbled down the charts in real time and the internet pretty much forgot about it the same night. Given the hype in these threads you would think it's "Not Like Us".

Drake just moved so sloppy in the battle, bro just rap and stop talking abuot anyones wife, dont let him get to the pedo shyt

cuz the rapping drake did was better than kendrick .....BUT also drakes best rapping was at ross and rocky and weekend lol
The rapping on 6:16 In LA is light-years ahead of anything else in the battle. It's really just the second verse of Family Matters that stands out. The rest of the song is kinda eh...

He made three big mistakes.

1. Talking about bangin'.
2. The "free the slaves" shyt.
3. Putting too much energy into Metro, Weeknd, and Ross.

his biggest mistake you didnt even list, he shoulda kept it light gave kendrick a tap and not talked about his wife...drake had too much to lose kendrick to gain

also the first beat and verse of family matters should have been better

You're right but I also don't think he had much of a choice because nothing on Pushups and Taylor Made really landed.

-He tried to say TDE didn't fukk with Kenny no more and it failed.

-It seems to be a general consensus that no one on the West fukked with the AI Pac/Snoop.

-He tried to go the money route just for us all to see he's practically an indentured servant to UMG.

-And when the tables got turned on him, he tried to go the "we gave you fake info" route even tho there's footage of him groping an underage girl.

He really had nothing on Kenny to use against him.
