I can't understand the concept of blindlessly believing in anything without evidence. And that's all faith is to me.
There's an element of willful ignorance to it but I wouldn't outright call it stupidity. It's choosing to believe something that's improbable in the name of your deity. People who don't have faith can't hope to understand it, so don't bother trying.

Willful ignorance for god, or for fear of what would happen if you didn't believe?
I think if you took out the concept of heaven and hell, That willful ignorance wouldn't exist.
nikka it is 2013. mainstream churches don't even teach about hell anymore.
be real the average believer (in whatever) has faith because they are trying to survive their everyday life just like any other person is. faith these bills will get paid, faith a new job will come, faith their sickness will get better, faith that things are shytty now but will get better because of the multitude of things that go unseen, because that massive, unknowable underlying force (what some may call god) has set the universe in perfect order. what's so wrong with that?
...Then it sounds like what you don't understand is the difference between "faith" and "blind faith".
