It's coming pre-installed in some phones. They showed an HTC phone which is based around it at the conference as well.

Zuckerberg mentioned manufacturers requesting the Facebook app for their phones on Stock roms, so I'm guessing that Facebook's vision is for Home garnering some of the same kind of attention that the regular Facebook app received from phone companies...

What if they eventually all start coming with this Facebook Home as an optional launcher out of the box? It's so open that it could happen. Maybe it would speed up Google's marketing for their own Nexus line of phones?

Time will tell

I still don't see why google will bytch tho. I mean that is their whole vision and Amazon sells a tablet that completely changes how android looks and damn near operates...WITHOUT the play store

Yeah, but people have to go out and buy a Kindle Fire in order to interact with Amazon's ads and UI.

The millions of people who have a Facebook account and an Android phone only have to download this app to be exposed to Facebook's ads which is basically direct competition to Google's ads.

That's true, but I don't think Facebook will be the "cool" thing that much longer anyway :manny:

It hasn't been the "cool" thing for a while now IMO.

But it's a part of millions of people's lives all over the world. People get tired of certain things about it, but it's one of the easiest ways to communicate with friends and family that you don't feel like calling.

I'm not gonna lie, that UI is slick, the best thing that I personally see coming from this is some alternative launcher or even Android implementing some of that multitasking in stock Android going forward.

They're not happy about Amazon doing that either, the whole point of Android was to protect Google services in the mobile space. It was a very shrewd move to make it open source and flood the market, but now the problem is containing it.

Amazon forked Android and is doing their own thing, Facebook is now stepping up in mobile, Samsung having so much power also poses a problem. And don't forget carriers wielding their stick as well (Verizon and AT&T).

That's why Google is going hard with Google+, bought Motorola and is selling Nexus devices unlocked on the cheap.
