There are no alternative lifestyles....Philly, NY, LA, Chicago these all have avenues and oppritunity to see people living a different (usually more healthy) life. Detroit up until fairly recently didn't have that....you had nikkas doing bad, and nikkas doing slightly OK but slow money. Wasn't until in the past 5 years or so to where the city has experienced any true growth..

A huge part of it is honestly is lack of police. Like in Detroit the amount of police is low af and the large amount of miles to police is crazy. If broke poverty stricken cats know they can dump off, and most likely it will go unsolved, they will do it. thats only a small part honestly, thats not what created the culture. You can have all the police in the world that's not really a deterrent its a reactionary measure. Trust me...i remember when Detroit Police were true demons and you had shyt like Malice Green and shyt popping off and literally just being on Joy Rd or Schoolcraft or Conant Gardens could get you wet up. Now, we have less police but more general incompetence and less demonism in the force.
And contrary to popular belief,crime in Detroit has gone down and majority of crimes reported are theft (which is the only crime to increase). There's still a lot of work to be done, but the more people are at work, in school and in general feeling like their lives have meaning or they have a job to do crime will go down. The numbers match with the jobs numbers, and Michigan still sucks for jobs.

If you have all the police in the world it DOES make a difference. I can tell you right now NYPD saturates the hood in plainclothes and marked and it definitely makes cats less likely to start shooting. In Detroit you can shoot up a house and pull off. I remember a few years back Compton doubled the amount of police and in one year murder dropped by half or something,
i'm not saying its no factor but you must also realize that Detroit is a VERY different city from LA/NY those places are REALLY dense and doing anything not in the presence of people is really hard.
