Sounds like a way to work smarks into rage to me, rather than what will actually happen.

The funny thing...Sasha was posed to be the biggest female star ever..crowd was with her on a lesser level of a Daniel Bryan. This is some REAL CRAZY, WILD shyt. This is up there with one of their biggest sabotages to date. I knew those gay ass reasons for holding Sasha back were bullshyt..I knew it and the fukking gullible IWC fell for that dumb shyt hook, line, and sinker and acted like Charlotte had just magically earned Sasha's rightful spot. It's akin to like them pushing Bray over Bryan and actually not letting Bryan win the WM XXX deal. SCUST. Utter Scust.

I dont think this will happen, but if it does, it goes back to the Hogan/Rock thing where Vince doesnt want to make someone huge and have them leave, and Steph for sure isnt leaving.

Even as someone who's had a love/hate deal with TNA, if we wanna keep it a buck, they was doing the Women's Revolution thing before WWE even thought of it. In 2007 while WWE was having swimsuit bikini battle royals and 3 minute divas matches, Gail Kim and Awesome Kong were putting on classics. The difference is they didn't market it as "historic" or "groundbreaking" they just let the women go out there and fight. Matter of fact, when The Beautiful People were running shyt, the Knockouts had the highest ratings on Impact weekly.
Which is what makes this even more lolworthy.

I never been much of a TNA guy, but I give them their due here. They were doing shyt with the women in the early to mid 2000's that WWE fans had to practically revolt against the company for. They had a thriving women's division with both singles and tag titles, while WWE today has barely featured their main roster women's titles (Bliss hasn't defended hers in MONTHS) and they're still hemming and hawing about tag belts. And TNA did their thing without patting themsleves on the back constantly, like you said. Then to have WWE patting themselves on the back while, if this rumor is to be believed, planning to push not talent but their Chief Brand Officer to the forefront is so ridiculous you kind of have to laugh at the situation.

You have to feel for the current Women's roster. I think a lot of them really bought into the idea that they were at the forefront of this revolution and to an extent, they are. But in recent months, their time is getting cut more and more, their pushes are being halted, and now they could potentially lose their spotlight to a former UFC fighter and their boss. That sucks.
So you have a girl in Sasha Banks who EASILY resonates with the mainstream and has crossover appeal across multiple demographics...but these guys want to focus on Stephanie McMahon.

Audience of one, millionaire who should be a billionaire, etc.

We harp on Sasha a lot, but honestly, I think the female roster over all is incredibly strong in terms of potential mainstream appeal. So far, the only outlet for that for the women is Total Divas, which is cool, but they could definitely extend beyond the reality TV bubble.

Sasha can go just about anywhere, but specifically, she can appeal to urban audiences. I could totally see Becky and Charlotte working the talk show circuit (The View, Ellen, etc.). Ember Moon could have her own segment on UUDD and appeal to the gamer/nerd crowd. Bliss could make small appearances on TV shows. Asuka could be a big star for the Japanese audience. And so on.

The varying looks and personalities in the womens division right now arguably give them more potential mainstream appeal than the men. However, WWE doesn't seem to want to get behind them in that way.

I call bullshyt

Steph is like 41, she can only be a star in terms of having a corporate profile for the WWE and be featured in business mags for running her father's brand, they cant be this tone deaf to make her an in ring star

The first part is what they want for her. Not the in ring shyt but they want her name to ring bells like Vince’s. Vince became a star off the Austin feud and they think steph can be the same. Or want her to be anyway. It’s in no way an attempt to make her a wrestler but they want her persona to be the next big thing.

Focusing on building her up as a top heel rather than making an actual wrestler the top heel smh

Apparently not on the level they want tho. Hence let’s go back to the well. Plus she can actually get in a fight with Rhonda and you can show that on tv outlets on the news or sportscenter or good morning America. You can’t show a man beating on a woman on GMA or the today show

In 2014...she was ultra over as heel. The in ring promos with her and Bryan while he was champion and was injured....it was Attitude Era over. Especially the Chicago Ppv promo where Brie slapped her so hard she shytted on herself. Crowd was nuts. But nobody is Daniel Bryan...the most over guy in wrestling...not even AJ Styles.

I don't think Steph would mind the comeuppance. They really can't do it in this era. And since she rarely involves herself as a heel with the women there's pretty much no opportunity for her to get her just deserts. Maybe that happens with this Rousey thing, I don't know. I could see them both getting booed and Rousey ends up as her bodyguard or something. Who fukking knows?
