Niccas please...this how ya mamas used to dance off dat Segrams' Gin
at the club in 1977.
Only differences are: the song playing ain't "Disco Lady" by Johnny Taylor,
and ya mamas had enough sense to not do this and broadcast it.
That is false. Isolated ass popping in America as a dance didn't become popular until the 90s. It was always around in Africa though.
All you have to do is google dances in the 70s and you will see. In the 70s and 80s, people danced using their whole body and most dances were gender neutral. Janet, Paula, ect were the top dancers. It wasn't unil the 90s that people started "doin' the butt" and "backing that *ss up". The 2000s is when it really took off. "Popping" is what it was called. Isolated butt movements.
The type of music that you "pop" or "twerk" to wasn't even invented until after the 70s. They didn't even have strippers in the 70s, they had mostly gogo dancers and they danced in a circular motion using their whole body. More graceful, nothing like "twerking".
