ask the labels..

i don't see an artist finally getting a deal, then saying "hey lets hide it and act like i'm doing this on my own, instead of you just giving me the full push"

that sounds like some industry suit shyt, and they keep doing it over and over... so there must be some reason they go to this tactic...

i mean if you think about it, we on the coli and other boards, are a small minority.. you ask the avg person about the details of who signed to who, they have no fukking clue... so i believe they do pull the wool over a lot of eyes

but i don't see how it makes the music better... i guess it makes the fan feel like they discovered some shyt and are watching someone grow up... beats having to actually have a life story and a grind that people care and respect... they'll just make you one up

This.

The industry is really about faking an underground draw for these fraud classically trained actors and wack marketing communications major jingle writers moonlighting as rappers.
Or just a wack deal sellout rapper.
who is a puppet and culturally disengenuine from the grassroots level.

None of these nikkaz be somebody in the underground for real.
They are plants.

Ol ain't ripped not one one mic face ass nikkaz.
Ol ain't killed not one radio freestyle appearance face ass nikkaz.

When did being an industry plant become so prevalent in Hip Hop?

After they were successful with drake it became their model.
As they saw they could legitimize a child star actor into a major label draw and now the entire industry is built on this fraud.

Oh which I disclosed they were doing this for s fee years before drake and when drake came out I said he was a plant and nobody believed me.
When I had disclosed how much drake was not in the Canadian underground, and a classically trained gw production company plant as well.

drake didn't make the beat... so you mean to tell me drake listened to cha cha then scoured the internet to find a beat with a similar "groove" and released the song in time to strategically steal "vibes" from Dram?

Am I getting that correctly? There aren't enough vibes to go around? Cha Cha would be a hit if not for hotline bling sounding vaguely similar?

The booth :scust:

I wonder when it became illegal for rap artists to make similar sounding music tho. Last time I checked half the new rappers in 2016 using the migos flow, certain soul samples have been beaten to death over the years etc

Who said Drake had to scour the internet or make the beat himself? It's Drake......you don't think he can just tell a gang of producers "gimme something that sounds like this here" and they'll make something similar-sounding in less than 24 hours?

Its not about being illegal or against the rules or whatever; but at least acknowledge the shyt (which Drake kinda did with the 'Cha Cha Remix' shyt), or better yet don't deny the shyt when being called out. The issue here is that Drake stans continue to deny that Hotline Bling came from Cha Cha despite clear evidence to the contrary, which makes them look silly

I'm not even trying to shyt on Drake for reusing a hot beat that he heard; I'm just reiterating that he did in fact do that because nikkas on here still insist he didn't. I honestly think Drake would have gladly hopped on the Cha Cha beat with DRAM to help put him on, just like he did with Makonnen and 'Tuesday'. The problem was DRAM used an unauthorized sample from a Nintendo game so Drake couldn't really profit from that. Then when DRAM did the new Cha Cha without the catchy Mario sample, it didn't sound as hot.....

And you say you wonder when it became illegal for rap artists to make similar sounding music? I'd say around the time Robin Thicke and Pharrell lost that bullshyt lawsuit with the Gaye family. nikkas on here was like :blessed: when Thicke lost just because he's a cac......not realizing how much that same ruling would affect the hip hop game and music in general if it was upheld in the highest court.....

I don't know if dude is a plant or not.

But once you sign with Atlantic, you're given songs. You don't get to freely pen anything. They ask that all signed artists sign over their publishing, and you get songs that they've had sitting around, written by other writers. People who know how to write "hits". They're all about radio and Top 40, so if you're willing to jump into the 360 there, they'll get you exposure. Problem is, they're taking basically every cent that comes from these records. So cats like Ty Dolla Sign, D.R.A.M., B.o.B., Bruno Mars, Flo Rida, etc, are all signed under deals where they take songs that are given to them, so they can get spins on radio. That's the formula over there.

Also the entire "plant" thing is stupid.

Everyone getting major play has a major behind them. They had industry connects, etc. It's a business and how the shyt works. What the hell is an industry plant really? All these artists have corporate investments on them...

Yep. Anyone getting a push is backed by a major end of the day.

So Drake heard Cha Cha and immediately told producers to copy it, and they scoured the internet to find a sample that sounds the same...but not really.

All this just to "steal a vibe" and copy it for what was originally a THROWAWAY song in hotline bling....:hhh:

drake sure gets you guys imagination going.:laff: and this is what you really think happened.

You don't have evidence on anything you claim...You weren't a part of the creative process for any song, have no proof on claims on what drake did during it, you don't know anything about the creation of either songs beat....you're just making shyt up and sounding dumb in the process.

I'm not even trying to shyt on Drake for reusing a hot beat that he heard;
How can you "reuse" a brand new beat?

Delusions getting strong, nikkas is straight up lying now.

And yet I hear two major songs in the same year with the same shorty swing my sample and nobody suing nobody, nobody is claiming cole stole Deja Vu from Bryson Tiller, nobody is claiming Bryson Tiller stole exhange from B.o.b. and nobody is claiming B.o.b. stole from charles hamilton

I don't hear nobody talking about Chance The Rapper using a beat on Coloring Book that was already a whole single for another small time rapper.

But yall are willing to reach the whole way when it's drake. can't take this subforum seriously for nothing

You lost when you used biased ass coli reactions as an indicator for anything real.

:what: You still on this "scour the internet" shyt.......its easy as fukk for a team of producers to recreate a beat's percussion and add any keyboard or whatever sound they want

All they did was use the same Cha Cha beat pattern with a kick, snare and hihat roll.....and used that wooden knock sound instead of the claps/bongos. Then just add a random light synth lead with a synth bass. That shyt takes MAYBE a few days max for a team to do when factoring in proper mixing and mastering, and not including Drake's most-likely pre-written vocals. Cha Cha ain't no damn complicated beat to rip off.....

It's clear that nothing else needs to be said in this exchange :snoop:......agree to disagree, I guess. I'll let you have the last word since you seem like the type who needs to have it.......

Damn Drake's jew money must have be long af to afford to send his team back in time to copy dram's song from 1972

All the sounds of hotline bling are present in the first 12 seconds of the original sample clown.

Agreed, you made yourself look plenty dumb already. Ask drake to let u borrow his time machine to stop urself from quoting me

this is a really good post, I swear atlantic is the worse record label in the industry. You're spot on with the song sharing, it seems like Atlantics tries to manufacture superstardom for their artists by giving them pre-made hits that will get the artist on the charts for a bit but won't help them build a fanbase. This move by itself ruined Tinashe's career with 2 on, and in hindsight it wouldn't suprise me if the song and aesthetic was 100% their idea. Her Ride Of Your Life song sounds like it was made specifically for rihanna.

Also there was Nothing On You by B.O.b. that was originally a Lupe Fiasco song.

They got a long history of sharing the hell out of songs, giving artists terrible 360's, marketing them horribly (tinashe) and just being all around dikks.

Is wiz khlaifa still on Atlantic though? If they're responsible for having him on See You Again they might deserve credit for saving his career lowkey
