Huge explosions have rocked a fuel depot in Ghana's capital Accra, killing at least three people.

The blasts sent a giant fireball into the sky and forced residents to flee the Atomic Junction area, in the north-east of the city, officials say.

The incident happened at about 19:30 GMT on Saturday. Reports suggest a tanker delivering natural gas caught fire.

Three people were confirmed killed, and at least 30 others were injured.

The first blast reportedly triggered a second explosion and a fire at a petrol station nearby.

The blaze, in the suburb of Legon, was later largely brought under control, government minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah told local radio, according to Reuters news agency.

Many of those evacuated were students at the University of Ghana, which is sited in the area.

:damn:

engineer is not doing their job ?

Orders from above to pump out more than with the machines will handle ?

Thats top secret information
So what's the reasons for these explosions? Is this done purposefully, or...?

These are good questions. Can anyone answer them?

Just got a call from one of my cousins who goes to school near Atomic Junction. The area of the explosion is a actually a popular hangout spot for University of Ghana students.

Here's the story he told me. Apparently there was a man who operated a Suya meat stand that has a gas leak that operated too close to a large range of gas stations near the plant. As he was firing up his stand, the gas leak caused the whole stand to explode and caused the plant to explode in proximity. The man was just stupid to not realize this and paid for it with his life along with many others.

The whole situation is the cause of a lack of regulation in African countries. This would've never happened in America or Europe with their strict laws.
