Nah i get that part, but if the promoter wants you to do it don't you basically have to? I mean he makes up the storylines he makes up the vision of where he wants it to go.
Well remember the wrestler still has to wrestle a match so if you refuse to wrestle the guy Vince can sue or strip the belt but it hurts the belt

Imagine having such a severe disorder that you find a way to shoehorn antecdotes about the rock in a thread that has absolutely no need for them.
The Rock is the greatest and most powerful in the business so it worked out perfect for the thread narrative.

Is that why you dikk ride The Rock so much?

Cause he's a badass and does whatever he wants and you will never be able to do the same?

:jbhmm:
I was supporting the Rock before he had a bandwagon, tapdancer. Lol. Now look at him..holding court over all your favorites..the fake Rebel, the whitest black man going today, Crooked Eye, Austin, old man Hogan, got Flair pimping his gear on Instagram, got Charlotte wanting to be a female him, Miz, Ricochet, MVP begging to wrestle him, Okada wanting to face over any chump left in the business...

As always..I was right and everyone else was wrong.

Its people like you that meet their idols and get punked lol
U puttin too much energy into that man
Thats just a narrative from TSC because their favorites quit, fell off, didnt save their money up the right way, stuck doing lame podcasts, and are naturally jealous Rock is damn near worshipped by millions.

They just didn't want to lose the belt. Losing the main event payouts, losing your spot as the top draw, and losing at all was more critical than who beat the champ. Especially back in the territorial era where these instances were more prevalent, the champions did everything to retain their slot as the #1 guy in the territory/promotion and retain the credibility of always winning. A lot of championship changes happened between wrestlers that were connected in some way or the challenger was vouched by someone so the champion knew he would get his win and belt back.

So I've heard plenty of stories where a champion will say "nah I'm not dropping the belt to him."
But I've always been confused cause how can a champ tell his boss what he's going to do with the boss's title?
Is it cause they try to avoid Montreal Screwjob situations?
Explain to me like im 5
Pro wrestling is a carny business. There arent a lot of official rules that cant be stretched and disregarded whenever someone feels like it. Wrestlers also tend to be morally ambiguous lowlifes so they often had no issue lying, manipulating, etc to stay on top.

Especially back in the day, once you made it to the top of your promotion you were generally expected to "protect your spot" by pulling rank, politicking backstage, pushing for creative control, etc. WCW was basically the inmates running the asylum for the most part. The same overgrown fratboys spraypainting guys on TV were the ones booking the show backstage. In WWE, guys like Shawn Michaels went out of their way to form "close" relationships with Vince so he could use his Stroke :dame: backstage to control the story on-screen.

Some have that in their contracts..Bret Hart did not have to lose to Shawn Michaels if he didnt want to. He wanted to drop the title next night...McMahon in his paranoid state during losing the ratings war, for some odd reason, believed that Bret Hart, a loyal WWE star they built up, was gonna take the belt and do what Medusa did and wouldnt keep to his word. So he betrayed Bret, the business, and basically vilified himself from that point forward.
Creative control is gone in the WWE..the Rock though? When he returns? He just does what he wants because he dont work for them and they'll never complain to him. He called CM Punk a couple of years ago LIVE and gave no fukks. He put some fans on camera rocking Macho Man and Undertaker that WWE security tried to silence and no one backstage wouldnt say shyt to him...Vince included. It's funny when you think about it.

Lol at bringing up the rock.

It’s actually a pretty dope concept because your champion had a vested interest in the belt plus there were no hot shots to the belt. A rookie couldn’t afford to be champion, he had to put work in and make money, he had to draw

:ehh:
