I dont know any theory about Africans being indigenous to the Americas but there is the theory that Africans crossed the Atlantic and lived amongst Indigneous Americans years before european contact.

Some people believe the Olmec statues, found in ancient Mexico closely resemble that of the west African (leaving link because image is large) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/94/San_Lorenzo_Monument_3.jpg

They Came Before Colombus by Dr. Ivan Van Sertima goes into deep detail of this theory, maybe you want to check it out

http://www.stewartsynopsis.com/washytaw.htm
Washytaw Nation is the oldest group of indigenous people on Earth. They were settled in what we know as Oklahoma.

Here's an excerpt of the article where it's broken down how the slave trade couldn't have produced that many blacks in America at that time; we were already here:

In 1993, the United Nations Center for Human Rights, recognized the Washytaw de Dugdahmoundyah Muur Empire as the Oldest Indigenous group of people on Earth. The registered Project # 215/93 ensued. Just read this. 12,000,000 slaves arrived in the Americas between 1540 and 1850 over—a 310-year period (according to US History books). If you look at the following facts of published material, we are living under another ideological part of American Revisionist History. Also, the following undermines the whole breadth and depth of what is written in American history books. By using simple calculations, the following information can be ascertained:

  1. Over a period of 310 years, is it fair to say that 64,000 slaves were transported annually to the Americas or has the transportation of slaves at the extent to which was claimed to the Americas one big myth?

  2. 12 million (12,000,000) Slaves were transported to the Americas (North, Central, South).

  3. Statistics state the 13 Colonies had a total of 600,000 slaves. (The first colony was Virginia 1585 - 1776--191 years).

  4. Between 1770 through 1860, there were 4 million slaves in the United States

  5. The largest seagoing vessel carried 400 slaves but not all of the ships were that large.

  6. Time of passage was 3 - 4 months. That means 200 vessels/ships per year would have to travel carrying 300 people. One ship could make 3 passages per year. The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database says there were 1100 - 1400 voyages made over that 300 year period. If that is the case and each ship carried 400 people, the total number would be 560,000 Africans were transported. That number is close to the claim in Item 3 that says there were 600,000 slaves in the 13 colonies, (The chart shows 500,000) but that still does not add up.

  7. Because of the way humans were tightly packed one-half of them died inroute.

  8. In Item 4, there were 4 million slaves in the US in 1860. After the Civil War 3.5 million slaves were freed.

  9. Did Native American tribes help slaves escape or were Americans with African ancestry already part of the Native American Nations that existed before Columbus arrived on the scene?

  10. We know Native Americans were enslaved, and Native Americans also enslaved people, but were these people who were enslaved Native Americans of African ancestry?

  11. We already know that over 83% of all Americans with African ancestry have Native American blood, but a recent study claims that is not true. According to the study, only 4% of all Americans with African ancestry have Native American blood even though Genomic (chromosome) evidence indicates the Amerindian Gene B, C, and D are descended from African females before they migrated out of Africa 40,000 years ago.

South Central Los Angeles So Wut U Wanna Do??
Read "When Rocks Cry Out" by Horace Butler. He breaks down how Mansa Musa the richest man to ever live and the king of Mali was in America 300 years before Columbus. He also writes about how the Olmecs are Africans who decided to stay here instead of going back with Mansa Musa. But he really goes off the deep end with his theory that everything in the Bible did not happen in the middle east and African, but happened here in America...very interesting

@Black Nostaljack hit it on the head. Going back a bit further. Some people say that the Earth when all the land mass were closer together, it was called Lemuuria and the Moors/Muurs are the original inhabitants of this land. They believe that Morocco was given permission from Kemit to settle the land in the west and the Kemit was moreso their cousins. They believe that North America is home to the world's oldest pyramids, somewhere in the Mississippi. Since they believe that they were here 1st, they are not bounded to corporate America rules and follows the laws of nature. This is off the head, so somethings could be inaccurate a bit, but look it up.

I believe it's possible that some of those who came across the Bering Strait were black
Don't believe, just know that that's what happened. "Black" people arrived in smaller numbers before. There's a reason why so many indigenous and aboriginal (around the world) people look like you and I physically, but differ by genetics. We are subjected to environmental changes, location, climate etc. Just happened to live in similar conditions to home but over time due to their surrounds their biological body made adaptations.
Understand that, their history, doesn't go back very further than 8k years ago.

Another interesting rumor / believe, is that the Africans that came here specifically to Central America/ modern day Mexico were the ones who taught the incas/other indigenous people how to build pyramids

I would love to see the up to date information on this work. Since it was written, I haven't heard alot of work being done in the field to build upon the theory and the crazy thing about it is that white archeologists and scholars, not Van Sertima himself are the people that came up with the theory of Africans being indigenous to the Americas in the first place. And yet Van Sertima is the one who get's all of the criticism.

This cat right here was not only an Archeologist who participated in the digging and excavating of the Olmec heads, but he was also a proponent of the Olmecs having an African Origin, many years before Van Sertima came on scene. I have this book below

There was definitely an African presence here before the Europeans came.

There's also a theory that says the so-called Indigenous Americans actually came from all over the globe, not just the Bering Strait. Hence why some of them have European features, some Asian and some African.
