IS this just a marketing ploy? Or is this necessary in my life. I have no clue what these mean, but they sho do make the tv prices drastically different

Refresh rate..applies to live television, especially sports because it can be blurry if a low refresh rate so when you buy and want the best. Go higher

Wherever whores go.....
Every tv signal comes in at 60hz

LCDs/LEDs have a problem with fast motion(Sports, actions scenes, scrolling text)

What 120hz does is double the hz or refresh rate. So you get 60hz twice every second. By doing that you get smoother motion during sports, actions scenes, scrolling text etc.

240 is 60hz X 4 every second. Which is supposed to give you the smoothest motion. But from all reports there is very little difference in terms of blurring between a 120hz set and 240hz set

Some LCDs/LED have a by product of the motion flow/smooth motion effects manafcatuers employ. Which gives it the soap opera effect, turning movies into video camera shoots. You can turn it down or off though

So is that detrimental to buy a 60hz? A lot of 60 hz sets were sold in the past and still being sold now. Are people cringing watching Lebron drop them triple doubles or is it something you can tolerate?

Also does the 120hz make a difference for HD vs non HD streams :flabbynsick::flabbynsick:

High refresh rates makes normal shows look like a soap opera though. I have a 60hz that I can turn an option on to turn it up to 120hz for sports and games. Not sure if every TV has those options

Well I mean its going to look like all choppy and fuzzy without 120hz. However they dont really sell too many tvs over 40" that are only 60hz

Its 2013 do youself a favor and get a 120hz set.

I have a 60hz 40 inch in my bedroom.. I don't watch a ton of sports on it but when I do it's not too bad except for on NBC Football broadcasts.. I don't know if it's the TV or just NBC's feed, but the picture is always jarring after changing from a replay back to live action.

I don't believe any show on tv or movie on home video is made native in 120hz yet. If I'm not mistaken, the tv is basically adding something that isn't there.

If u don't watch sports it's not that important
If u do there is a difference but it might not be worth the price difference
To me it's like 3d the content ain't really catch up to this feature
