GTA 5 + GTA Online is one of the best games of all time so I don't know why y'all are so surprised. I've probably spent around $400 on that game across both xbox 360 and ps3 on both the games themselves and shark cards and I stopped playing 3 years ago.

if a game sales multiple millions of copies I think it falls out of the niche category and crosses over into mainstream in most cases.
