Yemen has descended into chaos since the ousting of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2012, with security having collapsed since the Houthis swept unopposed into the capital last year.The Houthis, who belong to the Zaydi sect of Shia Islam, descended from their heartland in Saada last year, fighting their way towards Sanaa and defeating tribal and military rivals along the way.The group now controls 12 of the country's 21 governorates.
