What BAL does doesn't infringe or prevent any existing professional sports team from doing any of what you mentioned.

By doing something separate, Deng avoids the politics of having to deal with different business entities.

I agree about avoidance of different entities however there needs to be some type of centralization or consolidation and that means working with professional teams of other sports on the continent which have already some type of infrastructure set up instead of taking on a total greenfield project. The North American sport leagues have one league at least one DOMINANT league (NBA NFL MLB NHL MLS).

It is difficult to come into a consensus on anything in that part of world but i will have that as my first option go to clubs which have already the academy system set up for soccer and see if they can do that for basketball and the private owners of those teams will be willing to listen if you frame it in the potential in revenue and earnings basketball can earn. Bein Sports already broadcasts soccer matches on the continent that can be a great opportunity for broadcasting companies that have an emerging market bent. They would have to pay for rights for the games I am sure reap some ad revenue because of it.

The one hopeful thing about this strategy is you do not have to deal with public sector (govt.) people on this at least you should not have clubs are privately owned.

Not sure I understand your post (nor why you @'d me). It's an Egyptian team that won, not Egypt.

Anyways good to see things are moving on the continent

*recent article about Deng and ex teammate Royal Ivey working to put South Sudan basketball on the map

These are my peoples (more so Roy than Luol) , unfortunately had to choose sides when Roy and his former best friend got into a little issue and ended their friendship.

Good times At Blair Academy:mjcry:

You would have been there when Deng and Charlie Villanueva were there?

In a round about way but decided to go to college at the last minute. Roy was my boy before he decided to do a prep yr at Blair and we used to play on the same aau team (Gauchos). His best friend went to the same high school as me (in NJ) and thats how I met Roy and was jntroduced to the school.

After I graduated I spent some time playing with Blair from June to mid July but like I said I decided to go to college.

I used to date Chubby Checkers daughter and she played basketball at Duke and thats where me and Luol reconnected

Thanks, Gauchos Mob is big and we definitely probably know some of the same people.
Sad to hear about friends splitting and having to choose sides, but it happens. Glad to see that Ivey and Deng still share that bond from being teammates. These networks and pipelines are how everybody else does business, great to see us doing it for ourselves.
