If they were smart they would keep series x at 399 and the new series s at 250. If they try and sell them for 500 and 350 again its gonna be bad

That is the price point they need if they want to survive in North America for the next few years.
In mainland Europe and the rest of world the Xbox series consoles are pretty much dead at this point.

Even then, they are gonna need good software to keep it going. Consumers aren’t dumb they can smell the stench of death on electronic products that get heavily marked down like this.

What other choice do they have? Microsoft dropped the Series X to 399 and that only gave it a modest boost. Retailers had to slash the price again to 339-349 to give it another boost. The series s has been selling for 199-249 at most retailers and yet the S sales has completely collapsed. Series S sales are really bad. There is still a possibility that the Series consoles might not even hit million in dec npd despite all of the price cuts.
Software is not the problem. You don't do those Xbox Nov sales numbers, 54k in mainland Eu and less than 590k in the US, due to lack of good software. Xbox one had a software problem too yet it still was doing 1-1.4m during November in NA alone.
Deep discounts would keep the Series consoles going for another few years until they start their marketing campaign for the next Xbox in 2026/2027.

The problem is you can’t have a software problem for over 10 years and think a bunch of games like Pentiment, Hi Fi Rush, Redfall, Starfield and another Forza is going to be enough to turn it all around. Right now Microsoft is trying to dig their way out of a huge hole they’ve been standing in for two console generations.
The Biggest problem is they lost the trust of the larger gaming public. Now there are already rumors again of them cutting the generation short and heavy discounts. Thats not gonna help the perception at all
