I didn't know white people's validation is what makes you a star. He mentions recognizability. But I'm willing to bet you that if Katy Perry came and shopped at my local Wal-Mart, she'd be able to shop unbothered. If Future walked into my local Wal-Mart, he would surely be bothered. Hell, even someone like Boosie would garner more attention. It's all relative.
He has a right to stick to his own criteria. But for me, I consider you a star based on your influence and impact. Has Katy Perry's sound influenced a generation? No. Has her style influenced anyone? No. What about her appearance? No. Yet she was invited to perform at the Superbowl even though she has ZERO impact on the music industry.
On the other hand, Future has been blasted out of every speaker (whether it be from a car, a club, house party, ect) I've been around for the last 3 years, non-stop. Future has influenced a whole generation of up-n-coming artists, and Future's look has been replicated countless times, even amongst his industry mates.
Just cause you have your career fast-tracked by white people and place in positions to succeed (often with little to no talent), doesnt make you a megastar, imo.
Didn't know there was once tension between 2 Chainz and Joe
