I'd reduce that to three: Black, Blue, and Your Choice (either gray, brown, or a patterned/pinstripe suit)

2-3 white shirts (high quality 100% cotton, it matters)
1 Black Shirt
1 pair of Black dress shoes, and
1 pair of light brown/tan/cognac dress shoes (trust me, they go with damn near everything).

Suits are like men's lingerie. :dame:

That’s a lie

This nikka lost me in the first five seconds when he said you need a black suit…and first at that. nikka for what? Funerals :pachaha:

Also, I’m not a suit wearing ass nikka, and when I do, it’s slim fit tailored suits, not them goofy big ass suits that’s tailored and fit like a parachute on purpose

This nikka just started wearing suits that actually fit him and it only took like 60 years. But this nikka walking around looking like a Mexican magician and shyt

But that was pretty decent advice in general about not needing a lot of pieces to create a lot of different combos.

He’s actually pretty much in the right on this one. It’s a fair approach. I get the argument that 5 is too many and that’s a simple fix if so.

Yes so brehs will say they don’t need a suit which I get but if that’s the case that doesn’t dilute the rest of the advice. Just don’t buy them.

Im just talking shyt. It’s good advice in general

Im not even mad at the suits cause a lot of people in his generation wear the bigger fitting suits and his body type not slim. But you can even go back to the 50’s and 60’s and see people in slim fit tailored suits. Then the nikka style can be described as loud…loud as hell. Im not a fan of all them vibrant ass colors he be wearing. nikka be looking like the color wheel and shyt.

The denim fit not even that bad…except for the part it’s too matchy matchy. Denim fits with jackets and jeans the exact same color is not the wave. You need some contrast between the two lol. Ain’t nothing to break up the shyt up. nikka just looking like a walking denim print

I KNOW Y'ALL DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT FROM STEVE BUT THIS IS ROCK SOLID ADVICE FOR A 9-5 OFFICE GIG. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE TRYING TO GO UP THE CHAIN.

I’ve had a 9-5 office job for 20 years and have worn a suit ZERO times outside of job interviews. And I’ve always been in VP forward positions.

Reality is most people only need suits for an interview, wedding, funeral, or church (if your church still old fashioned like that). If you aren’t going to church then one black suit can carry you through all that.

Im down to just a black (funeral) and grey (wedding) suit. I MIGHT replace my old navy one if I go on another job interview but outside that the black and grey serve me well.

Depends. All back suits really aren’t a thing for business.

I think a dark charcoal covers more bases you are likely to use but that’s my $0.02

Black suits in the business world do come across a little “bossy or serious” now in these days. Not mad at the dark charcoal suit.
